§ 5377. Evidence of authenticity of notarial act performed in this State
(a) The authenticity of the official notarial stamp and signature of a notary public may
be evidenced by either:
(1) A certificate of authority from the Secretary of State authenticated as necessary.
(2) An apostille from the Secretary of State in the form prescribed by the Hague convention
of October 5, 1961 abolishing the requirement of legalization of foreign public documents.
(b) An apostille as specified by the Hague convention shall be attached to any document
that requires authentication and that is sent to a nation that has signed and ratified
