10:00 AM Student Panel
Topic: What's working for you? What isn't? What challenges do you face? Student voices highlighting both the strengths and challenges of learning in a small, rural school. Opportunity for Committee members to hear directly from students about their experiences.
11:00 AM School Tour
Guided tour of Canaan Memorial Schools.
11:30 AM Lunch with Students
Senate Education joins students in the cafeteria to share a meal and informal conversation. A firsthand look at their school community and daily routines.
12:00 PM Educator and Leadership Discussion
Roundtable with Elementary, High School, CTE Teachers, Principal, Superintendent, After School Program Coordinator (EPIC).
Topics include:
How CTE and educational programs create real opportunities in rural Vermont.
Innovative ways schools provide quality education despite geographic and resource limitations.
Strengths of the "small by necessity" model and how schools adapt to meet diverse student needs.
1:30 PM School Board
2:00 PM Public Forum
Open session for community members, parents, and stakeholders. A chance for the public to share perspectives on Canaan's successes, challenges, and the importance of sustaining small, rural schools. Written testimony is welcome, please send via email.
