§ 36. Power of trustees in lighting streets
Said Village may through its Board of Trustees, contract for the lighting of the streets
of said Village for a term of years not exceeding 10 at a time with such number of
lights as said Village may require. And said Village is authorized to purchase an
electric light plant and to contract for power to run the same, and sell electric
current within the limits of said Village for lights, power, and heat, and also may
sell such current for such purposes in the Towns of Barton, Irasburg, Coventry, and
Brownington, outside the limits of said Village in surrounding territory, not now
supplied by such electric current, but in no way to enter into competition with any
individual or corporation now furnishing electric current in any of such towns. Such
Village shall have the same right to set poles and string wires without said limits
of Village of Orleans as any individual or other corporation now has with the same
