Biography
Valorie Taylor was born and raised in Rutland, VT and was also raised in nearby Clarendon Springs. The youngest of four children, she learned to value hard work and to apply this to life at a young age. Working alongside her father in his antique business, she learned business skills on many levels and worked for her father until she was old enough to work for herself.

In high school she started painting outdoors in the summers, and soon graduated from Mill River Union High School in 1995. She attended the University of Vermont until 1997. In 1998 she moved to Boston and was an optician and assistant manager at For Eyes Optical for four years. Missing Vermont, Val moved back to the Rutland area and continued her residential painting business.

After meeting her husband in 2003, they started a family, eventually having three daughters. While raising her family and assisting her husband in their family business, Taylor Tree and Land Management, Val took up running again, which led to the Ultra running community here in Vermont and Colorado.

In 2014, her family moved from Clarendon to Mendon, where she joined the Select Board in 2021 and eventually became Chair. Falling in love with local politics and her community, she took a short break from the Select Board and decided to put her name in the hat for the Rutland-11 Representative position and gladly accepted appointment to this position in 2026.

Member of the House of Representatives: 2026-present.
