- BRENDA STEADY of Milton, VT has been married 44 years and has two adult sons and one granddaughter. The lifelong Milton resident is the youngest child of six children. She graduated from Milton High School and Champlain College. As a high school student she played field hockey, basketball and softball, yearbook staff, worked on the school newspaper, and was elected to the school student council.
After graduation from college she worked as a Secretary for Crowley Insurance and Senator Tom Crowley. She also worked as a bookkeeper for a major food chain, worked as Don Turner’s personal assistant at C21 Jack Associates, and for 10 years, worked in the Milton School District as a substitute teacher and aide. Now she is retired and serving as a State Legislator.
Brenda was a United Church of Milton council member and in the 1980’s served on the committee to get Kindergarten into the school system, worked on to charter changes, Justice of the Peace/Civil Board and is currently the vice-chair. She served nine years as a school trustee and is on her sixth year as a Selectboard member and is the current Clerk of the Board. She is a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Stars Chittenden County #59. She was a very active volunteer while her children attended school in their classrooms and also served on the PTA, coached Odyssey of the Mind and also coached Middle School Boys Basketball.
Brenda enjoys watching her granddaughter play soccer and participate in horse shows.
