Office of Legislative Counsel

The Vermont Office of Legislative Counsel is a nonpartisan office that provides legal and editorial support and services to the Vermont General Assembly.  The Office is divided into two units:  Legal and Drafting Operations.  The Legal unit is composed of attorneys who provide legislative legal services, including drafting bills and amendments and conducting legal and policy research and analysis for members, committees, and other staff offices of the General Assembly.  The Drafting Operations unit includes editors and drafting technicians who edit and process bills, amendments, and other documents.  The Office is also responsible for preparing and revising the official Vermont Statutes Annotated after the conclusion of each legislative session
