- SHAWN SWEENEY grew up in Montpelier down the road from the Statehouse. After graduating from Paul Smith's College and the University of Houston, he owned the Front & Outback nightclub in Burlington, VT. Soon after, he entered the feature film business moving to New York City. In 1998 he returned to Vermont and changed careers, entering the construction business. In 2004, he and his wife built a home in Shelburne, and he started his own design build company which he has successfully operated for the last 20+ years. That is where he raised a family and became involved with the Shelburne community. He coached Little League Baseball, youth basketball and volunteered at both the Shelburne Community School and CVU. For many years, he was president of the CVSD football program and was head official for the BCC swim team. Most recently, Shawn served on the Shelburne Planning Commission but has since stepped down to begin his role as a Legislator.
