Biography
MONIQUE PRIESTLEY (she/her) of Bradford recently transitioned out of her role as Executive Director of The Space On Main, a nonprofit community workspace she founded in 2017. She currently delivers strategic consulting and digital services focused in technology, economic development, community engagement, and entrepreneurship. Monique previously worked as the Vermont COVID Business Recovery Project Manager for the Center for Women & Enterprise and has spent 24 years working in various technology roles, including Director of Digital for CampusCE Corporation, an EdTech software company in Seattle, Washington. Monique graduated from University of Washington’s Master of Communication in Digital Media program and holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media and an Associate of Science in Graphic Design from Vermont State University. Monique serves on the NCSL Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity & Privacy and the NCSL Committees on Technology & Communications and Labor & Economic Development. She co-chairs the Future Caucus National AI Policy Task Force and is on the Legislative Steering Committee for the State AI Policy Forum through the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University. Her policy priorities focus on consumer protections and future of work. Monique serves on the leadership team of the Rural Caucus, which was awarded a VLCT Legislative Service Award (2023). She was selected for NCSL Emerging Leaders (2023), Future Caucus Policy Innovation Lab Fellowship (2024), CSG Eastern Leadership Academy (2024), and CSG Henry Toll Fellowship (2025). In 2024, she received CGS’s national Top 20 Under 40 award and EPIC’s National Champion of Freedom award. She is a Rotarian, Justice of the Peace, Notary Public, and has served on more than two dozen municipal commissions and nonprofit boards in a variety of leadership roles. Monique is a graduate of Leadership Kinetics’ Six Dimensions of Leadership Excellence, Leadership Upper Valley, Vermont Changemakers’ Table, Vermont Leadership Institute, and EMERGE Vermont. She has been honored as Cohase Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year (2018), Vital Communities’ Heroes & Leaders (2019), Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Planning Commission’s Volunteer of the Year (2020), and Vermont Business Magazine’s Rising Stars (2020).
