Biography
CHARLES KIMBELL. In his first three terms (2017–2023) as a State Representative representing Woodstock, Reading, and Plymouth, Kimbell served on the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development and was Vice Chair in his last term. He also served on the Joint Legislative Management Committee and the Joint Information Technology Oversight Committee and co-chaired the Rural Caucus, focused on the needs of Vermont’s smallest towns. After an unsuccessful bid for Lieutenant Governor in 2022, Kimbell decided to run for his old office in 2024 to help the State forge a solution to education financing and new school construction. Kimbell has been employed in the private sector for 30+ years, with careers in commercial banking, art licensing and publishing, and software sales and marketing. He and his wife owned and operated a successful outdoor clothing store in Woodstock for 10 years, and today he is involved in the renovation of older homes. In community affairs, Kimbell has served on the boards of more than 15 nonprofit organizations across the State and in local government. He currently serves on the board of the Good Neighbor Health Clinic in White River Junction. He was the event Director of the Covered Bridges Half Marathon as well as other running and cycling events for 20 years. After growing up in St. Albans, Vermont, his family moved to Brownsville where he attended Woodstock Union High School. Charlie, his wife, and all three of their grown children are alumni of WUHS. He received his BA from the University of Vermont, where he competed for the Alpine Ski Team. Charlie still turns the boards left and right on occasion and relishes the time riding a bike on the gravel roads and mountain bike trails around Woodstock.
Member House of Representatives: 2017–2023; 2025–present.
