Welcome to the State House

PARKING
On-street metered parking is available within the Capitol District, including State Street, Main Street and Court Street. Meters can be paid using coins or with the Park Mobile Application.
Accessible parking is available in the locations identified in the map below. Please call the Capitol Police or BGS Security with any questions.
ENTRANCE AND SCREENING
The Public Entrance is located on the west side of the building. Visitors will be screened at the public entrance.
The following items are not permitted in the State House:
- Firearms
- Weapons
- Knives
- Sticks or rods
Pets or other animals are not permitted, with the exception of service animals.
Shirts and shoes are required.
Signs are not permitted in committee rooms or the Chambers.
Visitors are expected to follow the Joint Rules of the State House regarding public conduct and keep walkways and corridors clear, refrain from loud noises, refrain from any conduct which creates risk of harm or disrupts government operations.
TOURS
The State House is a hub of activity year-round, and visitors are always welcome. Our volunteer team of tour guides help to make your visit to the State House a memorable experience.
- Self-guided tours are available throughout the year.
- Guided tours for walk-in visitors are typically offered late July through October.
- Group tours (including school trips) must be scheduled in advance for any time of the year.
