Office of Legislative Council

The Office of Legislative Council provides the General Assembly with legal advice, bill-drafting services, editing, administrative support, and committee staffing. The Office is composed of two divisions:

Legal: The attorneys provide legal legislative services on a nonpartisan basis to all members, all committees, and both chambers of the General Assembly. Services include the drafting of bills, amendments, and resolutions; research and analysis of legal issues; and research and analysis of policy issues. The legal staff also oversees the editing and publication of the Vermont Statutes Annotated.

Operations: The operations staff manages the business functions of the General Assembly, provides editing and drafting support for the attorneys, and provides support services for committees.
