- Biography
- DARA TORRE of Moretown, Washington County, has lived in Vermont with her family for over 20 years, and has embraced community life and public service as a school volunteer, planning commissioner, grant writer and nonprofit board member. Since 2016, Dara has served as U.S. program coordinator with the Regulatory Assistance Project, a nonpartisan, global clean energy policy group based in Montpelier. She previously worked in a variety of Mad River Valley organizations and businesses, including Sugarbush, the Mad River Valley Planning District and the Mad River Valley Senior Center. Before moving to Vermont, she worked in public health as an administrator with the Colorado AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. Dara graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s in history and a minor in government. She also holds a certificate in nonprofit management from Marlboro College and a certificate in climate change and health from Yale School of Public Health. In addition to her legislative role, she supports community resilience as Moretown’s energy coordinator, as a Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission board member and as a Mad River Valley Rotary member. Dara and her husband, Jay, have two grown children, and spend free time enjoying the trails and mountains near their home.
