Biography
SARA COFFEY lives in Guilford with her husband Dave and their two children. She is a dedicated community leader with more than two decades of organizational management, community organizing and public advocacy experience. She first came to Vermont in 1986 to earn an undergraduate degree at Marlboro College and the School for International Training. After working in the non-profit cultural sector in New York City, for 15 years, she returned to Southern Vermont in 2004 with her husband to raise their two small children and launch two enterprises Guilford Sound and Vermont Performance Lab.

Sara's innovative work and leadership at Vermont Performance Lab has been recognized by the Andrew Mellon Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Vermont Community Foundation for its programs and innovative approach to building community and civic dialogue through the arts.

Sara has been an active volunteer in her community serving on the several school associations and boards including Marlboro College and the Governor’s Institutes of Vermont. She has been an active member of the Broad Brook Grange, Guilford’s 250th committee and the Broad Brook Community Center, where she worked with the community to steward a capital campaign to restore Guilford’s grange hall into a vibrant community resource. She has twice been elected as Justice of the Peace in Guilford and served as the Co-Chair of the New England Foundation for the Arts’ Advisory Council and a citizen appointee to the Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel from 2018-2022.
