- BRIAN SMITH: I was born in Newport and have lived in Derby all of my life with the exception of serving in the US Navy and attending one year of business school in Boston. I have been selling cars for forty two years and am in the winding down stages of what has been a fun ride and a great career! I am in my twenty first year with the Town of Derby Selectboard with eight years serving as Chair. I have served as a Justice of the Peace for sixteen years and am on the North Country Union HS Auto Tech Advisory Board. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing in Quebec and off trail backwoods snowmobiling. I have just begun my third term in the General Assembly and last year was appointed to the Governors Council on Snowmobiling (VAST). I look forward to serving my district to the very best of my ability and I thank my constituents for the opportunity!
