Biography
AVRAM PATT has been a Central Vermont resident since 1970 and a resident of Worcester since 1989. He is a graduate of Goddard College after also attending Columbia University and graduating from the Bronx High School of Science. Avram is a part-time consultant in the areas of energy, cooperatives, and non-profits. He was the General Manager of Vermont’s most rural utility, Washington Electric Co-op from 1997–2013. From 1987–1996 he held management/policy positions in the Agency of Human Services, including Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity, an appointed position under three Governors with responsibility for the weatherization program, anti-hunger, and homelessness programs. From 1981–1986 he was co-executive director of the organization that developed and planned many of the public transportation services now operating in Central Vermont. He has also been a New York City cabbie and a rural Vermont school bus driver. Avram has served on numerous other nonprofit and local and State government boards, including most recently Salvation Farms (Board President), Goddard College Board of Trustees (Chair), Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, Worcester Board of Civil Authority, Hunger Mountain Co-op, Vermont Foodbank, Vermont Community Development Board, Plainfield Selectboard (Chair), and Northeast Association of Electric Cooperatives (Chair). Avram was married to Amy Darley, who passed away unexpectedly in 2021 and they have two children and two grandchildren. He is the singer and drummer in Vermont's finest Yiddish dance band.
