- Barbara Smith Murphy, of Fairfax, Independent, was born in Vermont and moved to Fairfax in 1982 with her husband Michael, where they raised their son and daughter. She was widowed in 2003. Her family has grown to include grandchildren. She received a BA from the University of Vermont and is retired from the USPS. Memberships have included: Franklin County Home Health Agency Board of Directors, 1999-2005, 2009-2015; Fairfax Development Review Board, 2000-2003, 2006-2014; Bellows Free Academy School Board, 1991-1997, 2009; Girl Scout Leader, 1991-2003; Fairfax Rescue Squad Treasurer, 1995-1998
