- Biography
- GEORGE W. TILL of Jericho, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Haverford College, Haverford, Pennsylvania. After college, George worked as a social worker at the Philadelphia County Department of Public Assistance and at Haverford State Psychiatric Hospital. He did post-baccalaureate work at Boston University and Harvard University and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. George completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco. From 1985 to 1988 he served in the National Health Service Corps at the People’s Clinic in St. Louis, Missouri. From 1988 until 2009 George was a physician in a private OB/GYN practice in Chittenden County. Since 2009, he has worked as an OB hospitalist at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Vermont School of Medicine. George was elected to the Vermont State Legislature in November 2008. He was a member of the House Committee on Health Care for three terms and is now in his third term on the Ways and Means Committee.
