- MARY S. HOOPER of Montpelier, Washington County, Democrat, was born in Heidelberg, Germany, where her father was serving in the army. She has lived in Montpelier since 1979 with her husband Jim, who is a physicist working for IBM. They have a son. She has been the executive director of the Vermont Association of Conservation Districts, Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry, the first executive director of the Montpelier downtown association. She served four terms as Mayor of Montpelier and on a number of City Boards and Commissions and other organizations, including Capstone (the regional community action agency), the Hunger Council, and the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Member of the House 2009-2010, 2011-2012, 2013-2014.
