Biography
GEORGE W. TILL of Jericho, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Haverford College, Haverford, Pennsylvania. After college, George worked as a social worker at the Philadelphia County Department of Public Assistance and at Haverford State Psychiatric Hospital. He did post-baccalaureate work at Boston University and Harvard University and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. George completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco. From 1985 to 1988 he served in the National Health Service Corps in St. Louis, Missouri. From 1988 until 2009 George was a physician in private OB/GYN practice in Chittenden County. He now works as a hospitalist at Fletcher Allen Health Care. He is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Vermont School of Medicine. George is vice chair of the Mount Mansfield Union School Board and chairman of the Finance Committee. George founded and for 12 years coached the Mt. Mansfield Youth Lacrosse Club. George was elected to the Vermont State Legislature in November, 2008. He is a member of the House Committee on Health Care, and the Vermont State Commission on Health Care Reform.
