Biography
HELEN HEAD of South Burlington, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born and raised in Griffin, Georgia, and became a resident of South Burlington in 1992. She was educated at the University of New Hampshire (BA) and the University of Vermont (MPA). Her career has focused on the administration of nonprofit organizations, including New Hampshire Legal Assistance's Concord office and Project Home (now HomeShare Vermont). Past community board and committee memberships have focused on domestic violence, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's Disease, court diversion, corrections, community library services, and ecumenical action. At present, she works with Hospice of the Champlain Valley, Dismas House, and Small Potatoes, an interfaith program that feeds hungry Vermonters on Saturday mornings. Helen is married to Thomas and they have a grown son and daughter. Member of the House 2003-2004; 2005-2006; 2007-2008; 2009-2010; 2011-2012; 2013-2014.
