Biography
JESSICA BRUMSTED is an experienced government relations professional who started her career in Senator Jim Jeffords' Vermont office in the late 80s before serving as Director of Government Relations at then Fletcher Allen Health Care in the mid- to late-90s. She left Fletcher Allen to serve as Director of the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program at the University of Vermont for several years before resigning to focus her time and energy on raising her four children. For the last decade, she has been an active community volunteer, serving on numerous committees and boards. Currently, she is a member of the United Way Women's Leadership Council and Champlain College's Single Parents program. She is a member of UVM Medical Center's Auxiliary; she recently chaired the fundraising committee for UVM Medical Center's new Mother-Baby inpatient unit, which opened in August 2015; and she volunteers her time to help the Development Office at UVM Medical Center raise money for programs and facilities on an ongoing basis. She also is a member of the External Advisory Committee for the Visiting Nurses Association and has served on the VNA's board, and she is a member of the University of Vermont Integrative Health in Primary Care Advisory Committee. Jessica grew up in Warwick, RI. A 30-year resident of Vermont, she earned a bachelor's degree in political science and economics and a master's in public administration from the University of Vermont. She is married to John and she is the proud parent of four children. She also has three step-children, and five step-grandchildren.
