- BARBARA SMITH MURPHY, of Fairfax, Independent, was born in Vermont in 1957. She became a Fairfax resident in 1982 and raised her son and daughter there. Her family has grown to include grandchildren. She was widowed in 2003. She received a BA from the University of Vermont. She is retired from the USPS. Memberships: Franklin County Home Health Agency Board of Directors, 1999-2005, 2009-2015; Fairfax Development Review Board, 2000-2003, 2006-2014; Bellows Free Academy School Board, 1991-1997, 2009; Girl Scout Leader, 1991-2003; Fairfax Rescue Squad Treasurer, 1995-1998.
