- JEAN O'SULLIVAN was appointed to the House in 2012 and reelected in 2012 and 2014. She currently serves on the House General, Housing and Military Affairs Committee. Jean's public service includes three terms on the Burlington City Council, 2000 to 2005; four terms as Commissioner on the Burlington Electric Commission; and five terms as Vice Chair of the Burlington Employee Retirement Board. Jean has also served the Democratic Party as a ward, city, and county chair during 1985 to 1990. Jean was born in New York City and was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. She graduated from California State College at Los Angeles with a degree in political science and continued her studies at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Though graduating from Cal State, she spent three years at Goddard College in Plainfield. Those years nurtured her love for Vermont. In 1977, Jean moved back to Vermont to raise her family and build a business. Jean has been an independent businesswomen her entire life. She owned a discount beverage store and a small chain of candy stores in Vermont before becoming a financial consultant. She became affiliated with Merrill Lynch in 1999 and continued on with A. G. Edwards until establishing her own financial services company in 2000.
