 - KIAH MORRIS Originally from Chicago, the Honorable Kiah Morris lives in Bennington with her husband and son. As a family, they enjoy hiking, arts, volunteering and caring for animals. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in Gender and Women's Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006 and completed graduate studies at Roosevelt University in Chicago in 2007. Previous employment included non-profit administration, sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy, internet sales strategist and university level program management. Ms. Morris serves on House Judiciary (present), House Health Care (2014-2016) is a member of the following caucuses: Women’s Caucus (Co-Chair), Climate Caucus, Future Caucus, Working People’s Caucus. Local Memberships & Service: United Counseling Services, United Childrens’ Services Board Member; Bennington Elks Lodge #567, Drug Awareness Committee; Oxfam America, Sisters on the Planet Ambassador; National Education Association, Racial Justice Task Force. Awards: Vermont Oral Health Coalition - Courage Award (2012), Impact Center - Executive Leadership Award (2013), NESCHO - Lamplighter Award (2013), Emerge America Trailblazer Award - Nominee (2016), Voices for Vermont’s Children - Kids Count Award (2016)
