- Biography
- DONALD E. COLLINS resides in Swanton, Vermont and represents the communities of Franklin County, as well as the Grand Isle County town of Alburgh in the Vermont Senate. He and his wife, Susan, have two daughters and four grandchildren. Don served in the Vermont Senate from 2003 through 2008 and was Chairman of Senate Education Committee during his fi nal two terms. Prior to serving in the legislature Collins was an educator for 37 years, including 17 as a superintendent of schools. He has also served as project manager of numerous school and municipal construction projects and was a school director for the Swanton School District for nine years. Collins currently serves on Vermont's State Board of Education and the 'government affairs council' of the National Association of State Boards of Education. In addition to being active in his local church and serving as a Justice of the Peace, he is a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star. His passion is operating his antique shops and making at least one 'deal' every day!
