Biography
DANIEL F. CONNOR of Fairfield, Vermont, is a second-term member of the "People's House" for the towns of Bakersfield, Fairfield, and Fletcher (Franklin District #6). Franklin County is the heartland for Vermont dairy and maple syrup production. He attended Fairfield Center School, Central Catholic High School, and graduated from Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans, Vermont. He received his "practical education" on the farms of W. Robert Howrigan and Henry J. Magnan. He is passionate about the working landscape and sustainable agriculture. He understands that the dairy industry provides the infrastructure for diversified agriculture in Vermont. Dan graduated from VTC and the University of Vermont with a BS in agricultural science/education. He is the Executive Director for the Vermont Beef Industry Council (VBIC), one of 44 qualified state beef councils across the United States. The VBIC is the only beef council in New England. His career began at the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Montpelier, as Dairy Marketing Specialist responsible for sensory evaluation, marketing, and promotion of dairy products. He resigned in 1990 as the Agency's Dairy Marketing Chief to start Connor & Company for agricultural and small business marketing and promotion. He was Vice President of Vermont Country Milk with its bottling plant located on the UVM campus. He was responsible for the research, design, marketing, and promotion of high-quality milk and cream in glass bottles. He is the proud father of two adult sons and a very proud granddad.
