Biography
AVRAM PATT of Worcester, Washington County, Democrat, was born on October 31, 1950 in The Bronx, and has been a resident of Central Vermont since 1970 and of Worcester since 1989. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science, attended Columbia College, and received a BA from Goddard College in 1972. Avram retired in 2013 after over 16 years as General Manager of Washington Electric Co-op, and is presently consulting in the areas of energy, nonprofits, and cooperatives. He held the appointed position of Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity and other Agency of Human Services positions from 1987-1997. From 1981-1986 he was codirector of the agency that developed or envisioned many of the public transportation services now operating in Central Vermont. Avram has served on nonprofit and government boards at the community, State and national levels. He is presently a Worcester Justice of the Peace, a director of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and Chair of the Goddard College Board of Trustees. Previous board memberships include Plainfield Selectboard (Chair), Hunger Mountain Co-op (Council President), Washington Electric Cooperative, Northeast Association of Electric Cooperatives (President), Energy Co-op of Vermont, Vermont Community Development Board, Vermont Foodbank, and National Association of State Community Services Programs.
