Biography
TERRY WILLIAMS was born in Rutland, Vermont and raised in Poultney. He graduated from Poultney High School, received an associate degree from New Hampshire Technical College and a BA from Regents College in Albany, New York. From 1972 through 1980, he worked as an automotive technician and was the Vermont State Deputy Game Warden from 1978 to 1990. Terry enlisted in the Vermont Army National Guard in 1973 and served until 1979 when he was honorably discharged. He was then a commissioned armor office from 1979 to 2004 and retired from active duty in 2004 after a combat tour in Afghanistan. Terry has served as vice chairman of the Poultney Selectboard, and as a member of the Rutland Regional Planning Commission and sits on the board of directors of the Dodge House Veterans Assistance Office. He is a member of VFW 648-Rutland, the American Legion Post 39-Poultney, and he is a life member of Disabled American Veterans. Additionally, he is a life member of the NRA, vice president of the Vermont Federation of Sportsman’s Clubs, director of Federation Fund for Conservation and Training and a member of Gun Owners of Vermont. He enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping, skiing, snowshoeing, gardening, and helping others. Terry is divorced and lives in Poultney. He has three adult children and five grandchildren.
